Aerial Action over Lake Tahoe to Celebrate Labor Day Weekend
 Air Fest and Fireworks Soar Over South Shore

(South Shore, Lake Tahoe, Calif./Nev.) - Labor Day Celebrations at South Shore Lake Tahoe include soaring planes, shooting fireworks, headliner entertainment, Friday, September 1 through Monday, September 4. Be certain to mark the calendar for these must see events.
 
17th Annual Lake Tahoe Air Fest, Saturday, September 2, 2006 - The 17th Annual Air Fest recognized as the best air show in the region takes place at the South Shore Lake Tahoe Airport. Highlights include the Air Show, Aircraft Static Displays, Aerial Stunt Performances, Sky Diving Demonstrations, Simulated Helicopter Rescues, a large display of military and general aviation aircraft and other high flying attractions.

Gates open at 8am with the 2nd Annual Flying 5K and Junior Pilots Fun Runs, www.flying5k.com, from 9:45am - 10:45am. A Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast begins at 8am and ends at 11am. Opening Air Fest Ceremonies begin at 10:30am with the NAS Fallon and Veterans of Foreign Wars providing Color Guards. The Air Show runs from 11am until 2pm. Food and beverages will be available throughout the day at the airport. Admission is $2 (Children under 12 are free.) Labor Day Pyrotechnic Exhibition, Sunday, September 3, 2006 - The South Shore Lake Tahoe Labor Day Fireworks Extravaganza explodes over Lake Tahoe on Sunday, September, 3 featuring numerous patterns and a variety of lights, designs, and shapes. Pyro Spectaculars, Inc. created the show along with Pyrodigital Consultants, and they call the show one of the largest in the West based on volume of fireworks. The exhibition features a simultaneous musical broadcast that can be heard on local radio stations KRLT-FM 93.9 and KOWL-AM 1490. The Labor Day pyrotechnic spectacular has become a popular annual attraction for thousands of visitors and locals. 

Some of the best viewing spots on the South Shore for fireworks are Nevada Beach State Park, El Dorado and Regan Beaches, Bijou Community Park or from the decks of the Tahoe Queen and M.S. Dixie II. For more information, please visit www.BlueLakeTahoe.com.
 
For a few laughs, Harveys Lake Tahoe Cabaret features "Debbie Loves Dallas" - straight from New York! This musical journey from Emmy Award winning producer, Anita Mann, follows Debbie, captain of her high school cheerleading team, on her personal quest to become a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. The Los Angeles Times calls The Chipper Lowell Experience at the Horizon Casino Resort, "Frenetic, Feverish & Hilarious!" Dancing, magic and comedy all come together on one stage. The "family friendly" show runs nightly, at 7:30pm except Tuesdays, with an adult only version at 9:30pm. Visit www.chipperlowellexperience.com. The Caribbean Allstars, featuring Hugh "Sweetfoot" Maynard perform at the Valhalla Grand Hall. The Whole Earth Review has raved about the "blend of horns, percussion, stinging lead guitar, throbbing reggae beats and sweet vocals." Their geographical roots range from Jamaica, Trinidad, Tobago, South America, West Africa, and the USA. The Allstars bring uplifting music of the Caribbean Islands, with reggae and ska included. People will be Cook'in at Kirkwood Mountain Resort's "Into Thin Air Chili Cook-Off" Saturday, September 2 at 12pm with a beer and wine tasting from 1pm-3pm. Sunday@eds (SAE) will play live on the plaza. For more information, contact abroadhurst@kirkwood.com or call 209-258-7386.

The Annual Kirkwood 5K/10K Run occurs Saturday, September 2. Advance registration available at www.mtnmilers.com or on Saturday, September 2 before 9am at The Lodge. Through the weekend and continuing into the fall, the Heavenly gondola, climbing 2.4 miles up the mountainside, is open for rides. In addition, visit Lake Tahoe Beaches, hike on dirt roads traversing a variety of terrain, bike on trails along the lake or in the mountains, boat or kayak along the shores of Lake Tahoe and dine or shop in the Heavenly Village, the home of art galleries, cafes, an ice cream shop, fine cuisine, sports shops and much more.

The September line up continues with 400,000 pounds of sand being brought in for the AVP Volleyball "Best of the Beach" at the Sports Pavilion at MontBleu Resort and Casino. Spectators will see the top seated men and women of the entire AVP Tour, including Gold Metal Olympian's, Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh. The tournament runs from Thursday, September 14 through Sunday, September 17. There are two sessions everyday.  Session 1 starts at 12pm, and Session 2 starts at 7:30pm. The finals are Sunday at 12pm. Tickets are on-sale now from any Ticketmaster location, or by calling MontBleu at 800-648-3353. Tickets can also be purchased online from www.ticketmaster.com. There are room/event packages and specials available for multiple session purchases. Ticket prices range from $20, $35. VIP courtside for $75.
